Outstanding historical figures of Ukraine
Yaroslav Vladimirovich (Wise) (ca. 978-1054)
Under the Grand Duke of Kyiv Yaroslav Volodymyrovych, the territory of the Old Russian state expanded as much as possible. Kyiv's power stretched from the Black Sea to the Baltic Sea - from south to north - and from the Carpathians to the Volga - from west to east.
The prince drafted the first written code of laws in Eastern Europe - Pravda Yaroslava.


Danylo Halytsky
(1201-1264)
During the period of fragmentation of the Old Russian state, Prince Danylo was the most successful ruler in the lands of modern Ukraine. His reign coincided with dramatic events - the invasion of the Mongol-Tatars. Danilov had to pursue a delicate policy to protect their lands from complete ruin. He made a long trip to the pond of Khan Batu, where he received security guarantees for the Galicia-Volyn state.
Bogdan Khmelnitsky
(1595-1657)
Bohdan Khmelnytsky led the first successful Cossack uprising, which aimed at the independence of Ukrainian lands. He was the first hetman of the Ukrainian state, which seceded from the Commonwealth.
